Brent Wheeler has a long background in governance, is presently Executive Chair of governance specialist firm The Boardroom Practice, is a the Governance specialist on the BNZ Growth Programme Faculty and undertakes governance training for BNZ Agri Partners and BNZ Private Bank. He has researched and written extensively in the area.
Expert Witness Services
Brent first acted as an expert witness in the 1980s before local government hearing committees and the then Planning Tribunal. He has been involved ever since in providing expert witness evidence in resource management, financial, valuation, economic and governance matters in the various Courts in N.Z. In the 1990s he was the Crown’s financial expert in the Equiticorp civil case. In recent years he has acted for numerous local authorities, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Newmont Mining, and Mighty River Power.
Training and Education
Having taught in various Universities and institutions Brent is well qualified to undertake the many training assignments he runs each year. These cover the fields of finance and governance. He has run financial modelling and valuation courses in N.Z., Singapore and Malaysia. In Singapore he has also run in house training in these areas for the Singapore “metro” company SMRT and the terminal services company (SATS) of Singapore Airlines.
